EMDR Association UK CPD points to be applied for.

Colleagues joining us for our autumn East Anglia regional networking day this year are in for a serious treat, with the morning dedicated to EMDR and medication, and the afternoon to the very future of EMDR Therapy.

Michael Hase

Dr Michael Hase is Past Chair of EMDRIA Germany, and a leading figure on EMDR’s Council of Scholars working out how best EMDR adapts to the challenges of reform and complexity of which so many of us are very aware.

Dr Hase will host us through the afternoon, with our always-appreciated regional breakout groups to explore the ideas in smaller groups, while Dr Begum’s morning will be a more traditional presentation on an issue many of us struggle with – how can EMDR work with prescribed medications.

Millia Begum

Dr Millia Begum is a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist and EMDR Europe-Approved
Consultant, a member of the EMDR Association UK Board and a basic training facilitator.

As psychiatrist, Millia has published journal articles, co-authored book chapters and been a key researcher in EMDR & PTSD research.

Her central question with us will be, with EMDR and Medication, can we get the right balance?

She’ll touch upon common queries about medication for trauma-related conditions, what these are and how they affect mental functions relevant to EMDR processing

After a long career advising and working with public psychiatry and also the military, Michael Hase for his part has been working in private practice since 2016, and earlier this year founded Germany’s EMDR Center offering training and post-basic CPD.

He’s a current member of the scientific committee of EMDR Europe, with a personal research focus on EMDR protocols for substance misuse, depression, burnout, chronic pain, the trauma of physical illness and medical treatment, as well as the general theory of EMDR Therapy.

Together with Dr Arne Hofmann, Michael was awarded EMDRIA’s Outstanding Research Award in 2015 for his research on EMDR for depression and the creation of the international research project “EMDR Depression European Network”.

We look forward to seeing you online.
